Two years & a Hole in One

This is the first time this year I have been happy about a Monday, and it is only because it is a reminder of the best day of my life. Today Nate and I celebrate 2 years of marriage! Sheesh how time flies. Two years ago we were counting down to our wedding day and now we are counting down to the birth of our baby boy. Who would have thunk? Anyway, on to the weekend.

Halloween inspiration

So I am an avid YouTube watcher in the beauty world and during the month of October it seems like every third video has been a Halloween makeup tutorial. That being said I have pulled together my favorite looks so far!

Of course I have to include the one I channeled for Halloween and the one that my lovely friend drew inspiration from too.

What are looking at for Halloween inspiration?

Just another manic Monday & a giveaway

Morning peeps!

This weekend was a totally unplanned one. First of all, Nate and I decided to go out to dinner (classy Applebees' date for the win) and I had my second steak this week. I am pretty sure my body is about to go into shock from all the beef I have consumed as of late. After dinner we headed to the grocery store and picked out pumpkins to carve. No pictures yet though, you have to check back later this week to see it with the rest of my fall decor.

I woke up Saturday thinking that I had to work a Komets game that night and so my plans did not include an elaborate costume for a friends party that was also going on that night. After I checked the schedule though, I realized I did not work and I immediately started racking my brain for a costume idea. Both Nate and my BIL shot down my idea of dressing like Miley Cyrus so I turned to twitter for help.

As you can see y'all were no help. So I decided I was going to be a skeleton and with the help of Martha Stewart and Chrisspy I made it happen.

She was clearly better at the skull than I was, but for a last minute/first attempt at it I think it turned out pretty well.

It was a nice night spent with friends dressed in silly costumes - I was the only one who took a darker route with the outfit. We had a cheetah and a hunter, Scooby and Shaggy, a skeleton (me), and an earlier version of my husband (my brother-in-law). This will be the only Halloween party this year probably, it works for me!

Sunday hit hard. I woke up with a slight fever and sore throat so other than getting the dog out for a walk I did a whole lot of nothing. Looking back on it I am a bit stressed now about the rest of the week and all I have to get done, but I will get it under control!

Now, on to the days of #blogtober14 that I missed.

October 25 | My Favorite Book

Is Your Mama a Llama (Reissue) (Paperback)
Buy it here

Okay, so my favorite book is a children's book. Judge me. When I look back though at all the books I have read and which ones make me smile this one tops the list. I just remember reading it with my parents and other siblings and it is just a good reminder of younger days.

October 26 | Who would play you in a movie

Rachel Bilson

First of all she just seems so sweet and happy, so I would love her to play me. Also, it is who I always get told I look like so it seems fitting. I still don't see it, but people tell me it all the time so I who am I to argue.

Check back later today for another #blogtober14 post - a letter to your younger self.

Halloween of years gone by

We didn't do Halloween when I was younger, probably because my parents grew up Mennonite and Halloween isn't the holiest of holidays. However, when I was in 8th grade I convinced my parents to let us trick-or-treat at my grandparents' neighbors' houses.

In high-school I only remember dressing up two times. The first time was my freshman year and I was Gretchen from Mean Girls and my three friends were the rest of the pack. Then my senior year we dressed up and went trick-or-treating for cans and I think I was like a fairy princess or something. I only dressed up a couple of times because a) I was in high school and b) our school put on this awesome haunted house as a fundraiser (yeah, small little catholic school put on a crazy awesome haunted house).

Junior Year
Junior year's was not my best look. I was a head on a silver platter I think this year.

Senior Year

Senior Year
Me dressing as a doll was my favorite look for the haunted house I think, which is weird because I hate them. Honestly I wouldn't look around me at while I was sitting there because the dolls freaked me out.

So high-school was filled with scary outfits and haunted houses, then came college which meant some unfortunately non-classy outfits. Seriously though, what made me think these were okay?

Freshman Year

Sophomore Year

Junior Year

Senior Year
My freshman year, I am pretty sure we indirectly got a lecture from our sorority about our outfit - referencing angels and all while looking way less than classy. Sophomore and Junior years were more covered up, but still... Luckily by senior year we grew out of that and wore pants!

Last year (my first non-school Halloween) we were actually getting stuff ready for our wedding so there was no festivities other than handing out candy to the neighborhood kiddos.

Really, I haven't had a bad Halloween ever. Sure I have had plenty of unfortunate outfits, but never really bad experiences. My most fun, though, was probably my senior year of high school working in the haunted house.

What was your favorite Halloween? Has anyone had any particularly bad experiences?
