The Next Chapter

Goodness, where do I even start. This past month has been a whirlwind. Between getting used to life as a mom and now starting work again, it has been one of the quickest months I have experienced I think.

That being said, I have actually had a lot of time to think about this little place in the blog world and what I want to do with it moving forward. Honestly, this space gives me a kind of escape. Before I started this blog, I would read into people's comments and over-analyze what I had said to the point that it would cause me anxiety. By putting it all out there and opening myself up to receiving comments and thoughts from anyone who happened to stumble upon my blog I have been able to move on and work through that anxiety.

It has been a few years since Raindrops on Roses began and my life has changed a bit. With those life changes I feel like I have to change my focus here a bit. Really, the main aspects stay the same. I am still a huge lover of getting glammed up, doing DIY/crafting projects at home and cooking. The change? Instead of doing all of those things as a twenty-something newlywed, I am now a twenty-something mom and wife that is trying to balance all of the things that I love with spending ample time with my husband and cherishing every moment of my little one's life. This will be a real-life type of place. I can't always be glammed up, sometimes I am lucky to even wash my face in the morning.

What does that mean? Well, you can expect outfits, makeup, skincare, projects and recipes all sprinkled with the mom reality of blooper pictures, outfit changes due to spit up or blow outs and everything in between. Luckily for me my husband is amazing and is willing to do whatever he can to help me out with all of this, we are a team.

So bear with us for a little bit while we figure things out. You probably have noticed some changes here already (color scheme, layout, theme and such), and I will be working on that still to iron out all the kinks.

Now, what should you expect this week? Well it will be a little later than I would have liked, but I will be sharing my best in beauty for hair, skin and makeup from last year. There will be other things too so make sure to come back and check it all out!

That certainly was a lot of words...my bad. I had a lot to say though and I am really excited about the future of  my little blog. Now to end this ramble, let's take a quick look back at the weekend shall we?

[Friday]

Well, we did nothing on Friday. Cuddles with the baby and watching Nate's favorite show...Gold Rush. I loved the cuddles though.

[Saturday]

I went on my first run since probably halfway through my pregnancy. It felt so weird, but good. Not going to lie though it wasn't pretty and the distance I actually ran was pretty pathetic, but you have to start somewhere. Little man got a bath and Nate and I got dressed up later that day. We dropped Leighton off with a cousin and we went on our first date night as just us.

I just want to note, that this picture was a one shot and done picture. That has never happened. EVER.

Don't judge me on my outfit poses. We are working on it, it is probably one of the most awkward things ever. Anyway, most of the things I was wearing are from a local boutique (Anna's Style Boutique) and aren't available anymore so some of the things linked below are similar but not exact items. I love all of them though. Seriously those booties, I'm dying for them.

[Shop the Look]

Also, in the spirit of being real...I got frustrated.

After our little photoshoot we headed back, picked up the little guy and went straight to bed.

[Sunday]

The morning was spent cleaning up the house and the afternoon was spent with my family. To end the night, we ate a big bowl of popcorn and watched Grease Live! Winner of a weekend for sure. The only thing that could have made it better would have been a big box of donuts...the obsession continues.

Happy Monday loves!
