Sandal Obsessed

Although it looks gorgeous outside, it is cold and windy. Hooray for spring right? All this flip flopping of weather has me dreaming even more or warm sunny days and endless beaches. I need a vacation.

Speak of dreaming. What is more dreamy than a collection of sandals just in time for summer shenanigans? Seriously, all of these are drop dead gorgeous.

And that is another wishlist. Keep up with all my drool worthy wishes by following me on Keep (here).

Give Me Sun

With the sun finally making its appearance and the temperatures slowly starting to rise, I can't help but think of summer and the days on the lake, by the pool or on a beach to come. Honestly, I tend to buy one new swimsuit a year. Not that I need one normally, but just because it became a habit after doing so for spring break in high school. Along with the swimsuit come sunnies, totes, flip flops, and cover ups. The possibilities and styles are endless anymore and I love it.

This year I know we will be visiting the lake (actually multiple lakes) often, we have a trip to California being planned and our new house in a community with a pool so I have that option every day as well. I see a lot of sun (and SPF) in my future so I am starting my wishlist early!

Reunited for the weekend

Monday is here yet again and that means the weekend is over - obvi. Unfortunately that means the end of a great weekend with friends and heading back to life in the real world.

Even though a lot happened this weekend it didn't feel like it really. I took off from work early on Friday and headed home to do a bit of last minute sprucing up around the house before my friends got to town. We talked, caught up and ate, and once the last of us showed up we headed out for some dancing in town. I love that you can go so long without seeing someone and then once you are reunited it is like you were never apart.
Out for the night at Flashbacks to dance to the best songs ever.

Saturday started late with breakfast and some sun-bathing, and then after dealing with my brother's car drama we headed to the winery. This is the same winery I had previously talked about in a weekend wrap-up post, but none of these girls had been so it was new and fun for everyone.

A nice bottle of White Cab while sitting al fresco at Country Heritage

After a tasting we all got a bottle and sat down to just talk some more. Eventually we took pictures - it is inevitable - and then headed home.

The Ladies at the Winery

After lunch on Sunday everyone took off and Remi just sat there staring at the door. He was so used to people coming in and out this weekend that I don't think he knew what was going on when they all left. Needless-to-say, I got a lot of cuddle time with my puppy throughout the day - while soaking up the last of the summer sun while I can.

And that is the weekend everyone. Now it is back to the real world to count down until Friday. Hey, it is a three-day weekend next weekend so there is that!

I was really liking how my eyelashes were looking yesterday. Check out Benefit x Birchbox's giveaway that I submitted this picture for!
What did you do this weekend?

Hello August!

Enter cliche saying about how the year has flown by and I can't believe it is already August. But seriously, August already? Really?

If you remember, this past winter was brutal to say the least and I feel like this summer hasn't been fully taken advantage of. I feel like things just kept popping up and we didn't get to do half the things we wanted to do, oh well. Next year I suppose.

Anyway, here is to kicking August off with a bang and squeezing as much fun in as possible before it gets too cold again.

Things happening in August that I'm looking forward to:

  1. Seeing my best friend from high school for the first time in what feels like forever.
  2. Celebrating an engagement with another friend - another engagement basket to make HOORAY!
  3. Helping two of our friends celebrate their marriage, and getting to dress up for the wedding.
  4. Seeing my college friends and going to a vineyard to get some quality time in - while acting classy tasting wine.

Goals for August

Blog:
  1. Post at least 3 times a week, REGULARLY
  2. Do at least one outfit post - and get the hubs to photograph it
  3. Get all of my social media connected to my blog and public worthy
Home:
  1. Decorate my living room walls - they are so bare!
  2. Organize the cabinet in my bathroom - it is ridiculous right now.
Fitness:
  1. Run 20 miles over the course of the month
  2. Lift at the gym at least twice a week
Life:
  1. Plan at least two date-nights for Nate and I
  2. Work on how personally I take things sometimes
  3. Stay better connected to my sister as she starts her first year of college

Ask yourself if what you're doing today is getting you closer to where you want to be tomorrow. #quote

That is what I have planned for the next 31 days! Hopefully I am successful in my goals and all of my fun plans work out!

KatiAnne

Weekend Wrap-Up

This past week has been a surreal time - my best friend got engaged - but let's start with last weekend.

My dad and brother came up to visit this past weekend and we all took advantage of all that our lovely town has to offer and went to a baseball game. The Tin Caps are the feeder team for the Padres and they are a really fun team to watch. The stadium is spectacular and the atmosphere is exactly what you want to experience at a minor league game. I love it, everything about it. We were lucky enough to hang out in the 400 Club with some of our friends at this game. This meant food and drinks while sitting in the air conditioning. I felt bad for my dad and brother who were outside on the lawn, but then I realized my brother was still having a blast and could care less where he sat. After the game we watched the fireworks and headed home. Living so far away from my family is hard at times, but I am lucky that they love to visit - especially now that I have my puppy!

The whole week kind of drug on. I am one of the only one's in my "department" at work that wasn't traveling all week and so it was really quiet. A Starbucks run felt necessary (there is no shame in it) and I drank a lot of coffee to keep myself focused. I have noticed a great hike in my coffee in-take lately - not mad about it either. Not only did the quietness of the office make the week drag, but the anticipation of all that was to happen this weekend made it seem like the week lasted forever. My best friend got engaged on Saturday and her fiance was kind enough to include my husband and I. It was the sweetest thing ever and I captured some great moments.

I am making an effort to really start capturing the moments in our lives with our friends and family and I am hoping these weekly reviews of sorts will help me document everything. I want to have pictures of our lives together and pictures are meant to be shared.

Monday Motivation

It is summer - obvi! Summer means lake days and pool time with friends among other things, so naturally it is a key time to work or the figure. Luckily I have my amazing husband to make me a workout program. Below are the first two weeks of the program he came up with for me. By focusing on weights and only doing heavy cardio two days a week, I should see the results I am dreaming of - along with good eating habits. Each day I start off riding a bike or on the elliptical for about 10 minutes to get myself going.

Also, just wanted to give a shout-out to Miss Indiana rocking her body during the swimsuit competition last night. The social media world was giving her so much praise for her healthy body, and I must agree she looked fantastic. And congratulations to Miss Nevada on becoming Miss America 2014 - you are stunning!

Life Lately

Well two weeks ago our life changed and we have been getting less sleep ever since. No I did not secretly have a baby... we got a puppy! Meet Remington, the newest member of the Blair family.

Isn't he just the cutest!
Remington is a full-blood Golden Retriever. His dad was really red toned and his mom looked like a classic golden so he is going to be a very pretty dog. Because we were looking for a hunting dog, we got ours from a breeder instead of adopting one from a shelter. Of course we are big believers in helping out these puppies that need to find forever homes, but in this situation we really wanted to know the history of our dog's parents to get the best dog we could. So far it has really paid off. Remi has pretty much potty trained himself and is really well behaved. He also loves to swim, which is a great start to his hunting training. The only issue we have really is he really HATES his kennel at night. We have tried everything. So far, playing the radio all night helps a bit, but he is still really whiny. Any suggestions on how to get my pup to sleep through the night would be greatly appreciated.

My love and I at my sister's graduation party.
We also celebrated my sister's graduation when we went home to get our puppy baby. I cannot believe that I have two siblings in college now and the youngest is in high school. I don't feel like my own graduation was that long ago, but we are coming up on my five year reunion so I need to start believing it.

The next month will be jam packed with mini-trips and visitors, all leading up to the hubby going back to school to get his Master's in Athletic Training. I couldn't be more proud of him, especially since through all of that he is also planning on taking the test to become a certified strength and conditioning coach. I am so happy that he has found a career that he can be passionate about and really enjoy. He is such a helpful person and loves making a difference/impact on a person's life. I love him so much (okay, gushy moment over).

Here is to all of the life changes that have happened and all of those left to come. I can't see what else God has in store for our lives!

These are the Days of Gold

Last Thursday was a girls' night out and what was the main event you ask? Well, let me just tell you - JAKE OWEN. It was a blast. After work my girls and I freshened up and went to pick up Chipotle before heading over to the Coliseum for the concert. He was joined by The Cadillac Three and Parmalee. They all put on such a great show and it really brought out the country girl in me. I may be a Vermont born, Indiana raised girl, but I love me some Southern Charm and these men brought that.  Beware, what comes next is multiple, multiple pictures, and they aren't the best quality.

The Cadillac Three were nothing short of perfection and after the show we followed them to one of the country bars in town and heard a few more songs. Parmalee was great as well and did a fun twist on Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball" by singing about Fireball. It was perfect. That stuff does hit like a wrecking ball and I literally was laughing out loud.

And then came Jake Owen. He was so amazing to see in concert and to top it off he brought some southern gentlemen ways to a not so gentleman guy who punched a girl in the face. WHO DOES THAT!? Seriously, I don't care if the girl provoked you or touched your girl or whatever, you do not hit a lady.

Anyway, I will spare you all the rant. It was a great time and I suggest that everyone goes out to see Jake if they can. We all need a little country in our life.

Beware, the pictures that follow are not the best quality. Also, I apologize in advance for the missing picture of my outfit, but be on the lookout for a country concert outfit post coming soon!
