The Blair's Do Lake Life

Last week on Monday we were on the lake, enjoying some sun and our vacation. It was a much needed break and some great time spent with family.

Leighton wasn't the biggest water lover, but he did get some good sleeps in (everywhere except in his bed).

Friday's Favorites | January 2

It is that time again, my list of weekly favorites. This week is a mash up of new products and some other additions that I have been loving all week long.

First up, some products I have been showing some major love this week.

Liz Claiborne Sunglasses

So before we headed down to my parents for Christmas I decided I needed new sunglasses. I just wanted something big and dark. These fit the bill. Not quite as dark as I was hoping but good enough for me! I have been wearing them constantly.

Jessica McClintock Case

When I decided to get new sunglasses, the husband gave me a hard time (because I had probably 7 other pairs laying around). I explained to him that I needed a pair that wasn't scratched or too loose to stay on my head, and he responded by saying maybe I should get a case for my sunnies so I didn't have as many chances to scratch them. I took his advice when I saw this pretty floral case. It was/is perfect.

EOS Smooth Stick

Mind blown guys. I love me my EOS ball but when I saw this I was beyond excited. I literally told everyone I saw that day about it. EOS in stick form - heaven.

Skincare Changeup, Time for Something New

 photo KissInstaWaveReview_zps248a78fc.jpg

Every now and then I like to switch things up and try something totally new. I feel like this is the best way to keep my skin under control, because if I stay with one routine too long my face gets used to it and starts freaking out again. There are definitely some products that last through these phases and never leave my skincare routine (aka my spot control treatment, face brush, lotions), but I will always try some new ones.

This phase of new products I am giving a shot is InstaNatural and it is sold on Amazon. I ran across this brand on Brand Backer and I was lucky enough for them to choose me to review some of their line. This is a wide variety of products, everything from supplements to multi-purpose oils. I am really excited to give it all a shot.

That being said here is how this review is going to go, because I want to really give this stuff a shot and give you an honest review. To start off I am going to tell you about the brand itself and what each product is supposed to do. Then I will check in each week (probably two or three weeks) with  my progress and feelings about all of the products so far. Sound good? I think so!

WTH is InstaNatural?
InstaNatural offers a range of beauty products focused on using natural and organic ingredients. We manufacture and distribute high quality products, while focusing our attention on our customers.

(and there is one other brand too, also found throgh BrandBacker)

Oh, and what is ZenWise?
ZenWise Labs is an online distributor of supplements designed to improve your everyday life. Our Goal is to dramatically enhance the health of our customers through high quality products and excellent customer care. All of our products are All Natural, Made in the USA, and GMP certified, so you know that you’re getting the strength, composition, quality, and purity displayed on the label.

So, what products am I trying? Glad you asked...

A New Way to Curl

 photo KissInstaWaveReview_zps38b5539e.jpg

There are already so many different ways to curl your hair that are out in the world for you to see in tutorials. Use a clamp or don't, wrap twisted or wrap flat. So many options, Now I have another one for you. Lately I have been using the KISS InstaWave to get nice casual curls.

What is this crazy new curling device I speak of?
It is a fully automatic tangle-free curler that instantly creates beautiful curls. It is super easy for anyone to use, from any angle, with any hand, because of the Curl Dial with left/right curl directions. It is safe too, after 90 minutes it automatically shuts off. You also have options with the temperature, low and high (max temp is 420)

Aztec City Eyes

 photo AztecCity_Title_zps100e1386.jpg

I am back with another Paula Dorf product and, for real I am loving it. The Paula Dorf team sent me this eyeshadow palette and I got so excited about it! I had been looking for a really good neutral brown for a transition shade, this palette brought me that plus some.

This is how the Paula Dorf website describes the Aztec City Eyeshadow Palette:

About the Product From the desert sand to the crisp blue sky this Aztec City Palette has it all! With just the right balance of professional and flirty, this palette lets you decide between knockout nudes, classy colors, or a mesmerizing mix of both. These five shades allow you to customize your look and transform your mindset to the bronzed beauty of the desert. The sleek mirrored case also contains a specially designed double-ended brush for the perfect application.

This is how my eyes turned out in the end. I loved it and felt it was perfect for our fun date to the Trans-Siberian Orchestra that night! (I also wore this look for our Friendsgiving party!)

Just like my review on the Brow Duo, I loved the packaging of this palette. Simple and really focused on letting the shadows take priority.

This palette also came with a dual-ended brush, which I think is perfect for travelling.

The palette has five shades, three shimmer and two matte. I used the two brown shades (4 & 5) to start my look. The tan (4) I used as a base all over my lid and brought it up through my crease to help transition the colors. Then, I went in with the dark brown (5) with a definer brush and created a bit of a wing, and really defined my crease. Next, I used a setting spray to get an intense color payoff from the blue (2) and help the gold pull through. I laid that color over the middle-outside corner of my lid. Finally I topped it off and blended it together with the lightest shade (1) and finished off my makeup look. Out we went to a great show!

And that is that! A fun look with a five shadow palette. The shadow held its place well while I wore it and I felt it had pretty good color payoff. I had a little bit of fallout from the blue shade, but I do my eyes first when doing a full face of makeup so that wasn't an issue for me.

The Paula Dorf team has offered a great deal to my readers again, this time a full bottle of their Teal Mascara with your purchase of the Aztec City Eyeshadow Palette.

You can buy this palette here, and if you use the promo code TEAL

Make sure to check it out if you are looking for a new shadow palette!

I received this makeup c/o of Paula Dorf and Brand Backer but all thoughts and opinions are 100% honest and my own.

This product intrigued me from the start since it was described as a product for either your lashes or your hair:

Give your look a jolt of electric colour, with this limited-edition trio of ultra-bold coloured mascaras for hair and lashes, in three heavily pigmented, buildable colours.
FOR LASHES- Make a subtle statement by adding a pop of colour to the tips of your lashes, or add coats to your entire lashes for a shockingly chic look. The more the better!
AS A HAIR MASCARA- Apply to small sections of hair and swipe through for instant ELECTRIC highlights.

Smells like Christmas

Just because I don't believe Christmas decorations should go up before Black Friday, doesn't mean I don't start to prepare throughout the rest of November. Part of my pre-Christmas prep includes stocking up on all things Christmas smelling, so when I was given the chance to try out Old Factory Candles c/o Brand Backer I just couldn't refuse.

First thing is first, let me tell you about the product:
Old Factory candles are hand-poured in the USA with natural soy wax, self-trimming cotton candle wicks, and premium fragrance oils. The Old Factory Candle Gift Sets each contain 3 different scented candles. Each candle burns clean and even for 20 hours. The subtle jar design makes it the perfect complement for any decor, and any room of the house - kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, family room, great room, and basement. Each gift set is themed around a group of related fragrances. So everyone is sure to find something perfect for every occasion, every room in the house, and all the special someones in your life. Old Factory Candle Gift Sets are sold exclusively on Amazon.

Ordering was easy, once I found the product listing (I made that easier for you though by providing the link to each scent collection below), and my candles arrived on time.

I personally judge products by their packaging initially, and these candles were packaged so well! The box itself was very informative while still looking clean and fun. Once I opened it up and looked at the candles inside I was happily surprised to see that their branding continued through to the inside of the box. It really added something to the thought that was behind these candles. The labels on the candles themselves also looked fun and meshed very well with the box they came in.

Since I knew I wanted to stock up on holiday scents, I ordered the Happy Holidays collection which included: Christmas Tree, Candy Cane, Gingerbread. They all smell similar to the name they are given and have a decent amount of scent to them just sitting unlit.

I decided to light the Gingerbread candle to give it a test run and let it sit for an hr. After being lit for an hour I noticed a subtle smell filling my living room. It wasn't overpowering, and was just enough. The candle also burnt really cleanly as well, which is always nice.

Overall I think these candles are great for smaller rooms or in addition to other forms of yummy smelling things. Personally I plan on using these in our bedrooms to bring the Christmas spirit throughout the other rooms of my house. Their size is perfect for a bedside table without having to take up too much space and the packaging of the candle itself is clean and will blend in with my decor around the house as well.

Personally, the price is a bit much for me, but when you think about the fact that they are made in the USA and hand-poured it makes it better. I love supporting local/American businesses so I could justify spending the $8.33-ish per candle - especially since they are supposed to last 20 hours. After burning mine for an hour you could barely tell that any was gone.

Want to try a set out for yourself? They come in 13 different scent collections so you can find the one perfect for you!

I received these items for testing purposes courtesy of Brand Backer and Old Factory Candles. All thoughts and opinions are completely my own.

What is your favorite scent for Christmas time?
